Hamra

Hamra is both subtly and blatantly complex, in keeping it could be said, with the larger canvas of most things Lebanese.  Hamra Street proper attracts weekday suits and weekend crowds, in some ways operating very much as business district.  Yet, stray even a few doors down an adjacent street and you’ll find wash hanging out to dry, kids waiting for the morning school bus, and shopkeepers that greet upon recognition- a little Mr. Rogersesque.  Another layer is added by the students attending LAU or AUB that make 24-hour eateries viable business ventures, choke cafes, clacking away on Macs and imbibing copious amounts of coffee, and bring a vibrancy slightly indescribable but tangibly apparent.

See Hamra through many lenses.
